WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT SCIENCE?
Okay.. Before we start of Main topic, let me introduce you to a whole new brand of SCIENCE! Actually, not that new but as we can see today's surroundings, almost everything in this world keep changing from time to time. For example, TIME is always moving which is showing us the fact that everything around us is changing from discrete tiny particles of atom until huge and wide range of Universe! Okay, I'm not going into QUANTUM PHYSICS right now ha-ha...
From my observation on kids and children nowadays tend to pick "infamous" career such as an Engineer or a Doctor. In the classroom, if we calculate the probability of the students in the class, most of them will say "I wanna be a doctor!" or "I think Engineer gonna be good one.." BUT, if we asked them what do ENGINEERS and DOCTORS do??? I'm pretty sure 90% of them will keep silent, thinking what are they actually self-interest?
Okay being an Engineer and Doctor need huge sacrifices from management of time up to our socializing matter. Let us take an example of a person who really in passion to be a doctor. What does he/she take in order to achieve his/her ambition/dream? She/He must struggle to get used and even master the core science subjects for Medicine, which is Biology and Chemistry also not forgotten the Mathematics which is a compulsory subject for all Science Major students. In order to master these subjects, she/he must sacrifice her/his time for study in order to get GOOD grades in the exam, otherwise she's/he's not going to be a DOCTOR! Sounds hard right? But that's the REALITY! Teenagers nowadays must awaken from their DREAMS to be famous and popular just because they're an Engineer or Doctors.
This is same for one who want to be an Engineer. They must really good in Mathematics and Physics subjects in order to get a basic idea of the future career. I must say one with strong basic of one of the pure science subjects is BETTER than the one who got straight's A's in the exam. Indeed, this is what happening for students in the Universities and Colleges nowadays, which extremely got a streak A's in the exam but he/she doesn't know what did they learn really are.. Pathetic right?
Parents should play their major role to investigate and set-up their children's self-interest to boost up their interest with surrounding matter. If not, your children might end up confusing what type of self-interest they really have.. Other than Engineering and Doctor Career, Science's careers branched not only limiting on these two. They are many kinds of careers or Jobs in science field ranging from Technology until Environment such as :
- Microbiologist
- Chemist
- Physicist
- Biologist
- Biology Molecular Scientist
- Biotechnology Scientist
- Astronomer
- Marine Scientist
- Geo Scientist
- Meteorologist
- Pharmacist
- Forensic Investigator
- Pilot
- Nutritionist

A person who dealing with scientific area and knowledge most of them called scientist, even doctors and engineers are scientifically too, because they practice their scientific knowledge on everyday application.
What is good to be an Engineer?
Engineers are people or career which apply their mathematical knowledge combine with physics to solve problems in our daily lives. Talk about Maths of course, those engineers able to think extraordinary than normal people to solve and inventing something to the world. Not only that, Engineering principle which is applied scientific knowledge can make something new only from raw materials to even big thing might be change human discoveries. From what I've said earlier, at the time keeps changing so does engineers. They must think why, what, who, where, How and when that is happening? What I mean is Engineering disciplines keep changing to a new, better and modern one which mostly high demands in the world. As example Biomedical Engineering is a subdiscipline engineering of Medicine and Mechanical Engineering as well with Biology Engineering. This is what I said earlier people keep thinking to change something to even new or better one.
Engineering Fields consist mainly of these four branches which is :
- Civil Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical/Electronics Engineering
- Chemical Engineering

The discipline of engineering is extremely broad, and encompasses a range of more specialized fields of engineering, each with a more specific emphasis on particular areas of technology and types of application. From these four branches, it will expand into another engineering with their respective disciplines such as Biological Engineering, Biomedical Engineering (Mix of Biological Engineering and Mechanical Engineering), Petroleum Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering and much more engineering.
I will not explain any further for Engineering as the web prepared for you guys a lot of references for Engineering and Medicine courses. What we gonna discuss is the similarities and Contrast of these both career. Before that, allow me to briefly introduce you guys about the Doctor career.

Actually, there's a much more sub-specializing in Medicine such as Neurology, Dermatology, Anesthesiology, Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Pediatrics.

My main purpose publishing this article is to let you know how vast and wide the range and scope of carrier whenever you took Science as your main Courses. I am not telling you that neither doctor or engineer is not suiting you well, but there's exactly similarities between these two which is High demand for science and technology development which make this job popular among the others.

Have decided your future career as an Engineer? Of course, being an Engineer much gives you experience different from other engineers as they will work as a team to solve problems. Benefits you will gain are :

- The Engineer also professionalism which gives you "prestige" same with doctors and lawyers where we will meet people almost everyday internationally which makes you gain reputation.

- Engineering has flexibility in choosing jobs where it covers from civil to mechanical until biological area which doctors doesn't have this opportunity.

- Engineers have a big opportunity for discovering new things, and trained to think in creative ways which put them in high demand for society
But... I hate Physics... I love to be a Doctor!!
That's good to know your own potential in science. Doctors or Physicians also have their own unique interest in science as they also will engage with random patients in a day and gives them appropriate advices. Don't you think doc contributes much higher taking care of our health? Thanks to them letting us know which medicine is the best to relieve the pain/diseases.
Exposed in Medicine science will gives you :
- Encouragement to treat people and save many people's lives.
- The Ability to know the disease and how to treat them.
- Respect by the society and civilians
- Much more experience thinking in Emergency condition
- Know how to to surgery process and exposed to humans internal organs (for specialty in surgeons) which Engineers doesn't have this opportunity.
- High Prestige place where you tend easier to find a job as you have "doctor" title with you.
- Much pretty number in income and salary as they will paid high for they professionalism especially for Cardiovascular Surgeon!
Isn't there any more advices for me before choosing any
careers listed above?
I would like to say it again that you need to explore your BEST self interest rather than picking famous job or following a friend's career instead of neglecting your main interest. Try your best to explore your potency in science by joining any society in schools or open society. Not only that, your performance in school also determines how good you are in certain area. Try to consult your Counselor and ask their opinion for your option. Good Luck~
